India's Powergrid to strengthen intra-state transmission system

Powergrid will invest Rs 42,000 crore for transmission of 40 GW power.

This is part of the requirement for intra-state transmission system strengthening requirements, that includes establishment of a renewable energy management center and other associated works such as energy storage and real time monitoring system.

The central transmission utility has also taken the initiative to provide a suitable mechanism to address the uncertainty surrounding wind and solar power generation.

The various steps are forecasting of generation, provision of flexible generations and reserves, demand side management, energy storage along with policy and regulatory framework.

Alongside this, a study report on green energy corridors will be submitted to central authorities after seeking inputs from state nodal agencies, transmission utilities and Central Electricity Regulatory Commission.
