Lanco commissions unit 2 of Udupi thermal plant

Lanco Infratech has commissioned the second unit of its 1,200 MW Udupi Thermal Power Plant.

However, the associated transmission system for the project is still running much behind schedule. The forestry clearance for this needs to be expedited, and the right-of-way issues need to now be resolved, for if the project is to gain any momentum.

In addition, Bulk Power Transmission Agreement issues with PGCIL also remain to be resolved.

The 1200 MW Udupi TPP is being executed by Udupi Power Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of Lanco Infratech Limited, with KPTCL the agency responsible for the ATS. The associated transmission line goes through the thick of western ghats and about 35 kms of forest area.
