Thai Binh power plant set for construction

An Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract has been signed to build Thai Binh Thermo Power Plant No 2 at My Loc commune, Thai Thuy district. The two parties involved were PetroVietnam Power Corporation and the PetroVietnam Construction JSC.

Covering an area of 43 hectares, the plant has a design capacity of 12 MW. The first turbine group is expected to begin generating electricity by 2014 while the second turbine group was scheduled for operation in early 2015. Total investment for the project is estimated at more than US$1.6 billion.

After completion, the plant will provide more than 6.7 billion kWh electricity annually.
