Adani Green bags 5 GW PPA for Maharashtra

A deal to supply nearly 1,500 MW of thermal power was also signed.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has awarded the letter of intent to Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) for five gigawatts (GW) of solar power to be supplied to the Indian state.

In a bourse filing, AGEL said the 25-year PPA will source its supply from the world’s largest renewable energy park being developed at Khavda in Kutch District of Gujarat.

Adani Power Limited (APL), meanwhile, was also awarded a letter of intent by the MSEDCL for a separate 25-year power supply agreement. Under this deal, 1,496 megawatts (MW) of thermal power will be supplied to the state from a new 1,600 MW Ultra-supercritical thermal power project.

The thermal capacity was awarded to APL on design, build, finance, own, and operate basis. The project will generate power in two phases: Unit 1 in 3.5 years and Unit 2 in four years.

“Adani Green is well positioned to achieve the 50 GW target with secured resource rich sites in strategic locations, portfolio mix of renewables and storage solutions, robust supply chain and clear evacuation plans,” said Sagar Adani, executive director of AGEL.
