CIP completes Zhong Neng offshore wind farm in Taiwan

It is set to supply energy to 300,000 households and reduce carbon emissions by 550,000 tons each year.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has announced the completion of the Zhong Neng offshore wind farm during a ceremony in Taipei.

This project, a joint venture with China Steel Corporation, is the first offshore wind farm in Taiwan to finish ahead of schedule and meets the highest localisation standards in the country’s offshore wind sector.

The wind farm, located off Changhua County, was built by Copenhagen Offshore Partners and the local Copenhagen Infrastructure Service Company.

“The project was completed ahead of time and to the highest localisation requirements and is another example of how our investments make a meaningful contribution to the local energy transition, creating local growth and jobs and delivering healthy and stable returns for our investors,” said  Mads Skovgaard Andersen, partner at CIP.

Zhong Neng, approved by the Taiwan government in November 2019, installed its first turbines in May 2024. It is set to connect to the grid by the end of the year and will provide energy to around 300,000 households, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 550,000 tons annually.

Thomas Wibe Poulsen, partner at CIP, highlighted the successful collaboration with local partners and the project team.

CIP has been active in Taiwan since 2017, with three offshore wind projects totaling around 1,400 MW: Changfang-Xidao (600 MW), Zhong Neng (300 MW), and Fengmiao (500 MW).
