J-POWER launches country-wide collaboration for offshore wind power promotion

It has united 13 energy entities for the Floating Offshore Wind Technology Research Association.

Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-POWER) has established the collaborative venture Floating Offshore Wind Technology Research Association (FLOWRA). 

Among the major collaborative partners include The Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., JERA Co., Inc., Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., TEPCO Renewable Power, Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc., Hokuriku Electric Power Company, Mitsubishi Corporation Offshore Wind Ltd. and Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation.

The main goal for the collaboration is joint research and development with association members, related manufacturers, research institutions, and other agencies on developing and commercialising floating offshore wind power generation in Japan, and the expansion of advanced technologies.

Offshore wind power generation is projected to serve as a primary power source for a carbon-neutral environment by 2050. 

With research from FLOWRA, J-POWER has continued to promote the sustainable development of wind power generation and other renewable energy projects aligned to its J-POWER BLUE MISSION 2050.
