Japan’s Eurus restarts 30 MW Nishime wind farm in Akita after rebuilding
Commercial operations resumed on 1 March.
Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation said its subsidiary, Eurus Energy Nishime LLC, has completed reconstruction of the 30-megawatt Eurus Nishime Wind Farm in Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture.
The facility resumed commercial operations on 1 March.
The wind farm began operating in November 2004 and was shut down in March 2023 for replacement work after nearly 20 years of service.
The project replaced 15 turbines from Vestas Wind Systems A/S (2.0 MW each) with seven larger turbines from Siemens Energy K.K. (4.3 MW each). The upgrade is expected to increase output and improve maintenance efficiency.
All electricity generated will be sold to Tohoku Electric Power Network Co., Inc.. The wind farm is expected to supply power equivalent to about 15,000 households and cut CO2 emissions by roughly 24,000 tons annually.
The company said it will continue expanding wind power projects to support decarbonization and sustainable development.
