Wika Wants Rp 470b From Power Plants

Wijaya Karya is expecting its investment in four power-plant projects to bring revenues worth Rp 470 billion or $51.7 million next year.

The projects are a 54 megawatt Bali power plant, a 25 MW Ambon plant, a 60 MW plant in South Sumatra’s Borang district and a 20 MW plant in Riau’s Rengat district.


State construction company said it would spend Rp 1.97 trillion on the projects in Bali, Ambon and Borang. It didn’t disclose investment on Rengat.

Natal Argawan, Wika’s corporate secretary, stated that the company’s investment on power plant projects would boost sales and create sustainable income until 2019. He noted that the Bali power plant is already operational and the Ambon plant would start commercial operations by year’s end. The Rengat power plant will begin operating in February, he said.

On top of the four projects, Natal said Wika also planned to invest in a 28 MW power plant in Riau’s Siak district and a 13 MW power plant in West Java.
