China's nuclear capacity to reach 80GW in 2020

 

China will have total nuclear power capacity of 80 GW in 2020 according to the Energy Research Institute.



Dai Yande, deputy director of the Energy Research Institute, stated that China has installed nuclear power capacity of 10 GW at present and another 25 GW of installed capacity under construction.

Coal consumption accounts for 70 percent of total energy consumption at present in China, which is currently the second largest emitter of carbon dioxide in the world.
