NDRC urges China's local gov'ts to ensure energy supply

China's top economic planner urged local governments to ensure energy supplies amid the peak energy consumption.

Relevant authorities should ramp up efforts to ease possible shortages in coal, power, oil and gas supplies in some areas, which are expected to be triggered by bad weather and other uncertain factors, the National Development and Reform Commission said in a statement on its website, according to Xinhua News.

The NDRC also ordered relevant authorities to increase their efforts in stabilizing coal prices and preventing a sharp rebound of power consumption in the energy-guzzling and polluting industries.
