NHPC seeks expeditious approval for hydro project
NHPC wants Uttarakhand to address issues to its hydro project to facilitate the signing of the implementation agreement.
The project execution of NHPC Limited's 210 MW Dhauliganga Intermediate hydro-electric project has come to a standstill due to non-finalization of the draft implementation agreement in absence of the response of the state government of Uttarakhand on pending issues.
NHPC has asserted that Government of Uttarkhand has not made any effort to fast-track its decision, despite being sent repeated requests to reconsider or drop the condition of first right of purchase for unallocated power generated from the project, as is being insisted upon by the state.
A lot has been riding on the state government's verdict with respect to the IA of this project. Moreover, NHPC has put forth that Uttarkhand has not responded on the IA for the 120 MW Goriganga project, which is to be signed along similar lines as finalized for the Dhauliganga HEP.
