$4.6b hydropower plant in Sichuan and Tibet gets go-ahead from China

Huadian Group will take a 48% stake in the project.

Reuters reports that China approved the $4.6b hydropower project in Sichuan and Tibet, which has a total installed capacity of 2,000MW.

The Lawa project will be based on the upper reaches of the Jinsha river.

Huadian Group will take a 48% stake in the project, with minority stakes held by provincial firms.
