Philippines to publish TOR for fourth green energy auction

There will be an integrated RE and energy storage system in the upcoming auction round.

The Philippines’ Department of Energy is set to release this month the terms of reference (TOR) for the fourth auction round under the Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP).

In a statement, the department said the TOR will outline specific provisions and procedures for the auction process, covering technical, financial, and commercial aspects.

The latest round will include Integrated Renewable Energy and Energy Storage System (IRESS) for the first time. In this auction, IRESS will only cover solar power plants integrated with battery energy storage systems.

A dialogue on the draft TOR will be conducted to gather feedback from relevant parties.

Through the GEAP, the Philippines aims to expand its renewable energy capacity and achieve a 35% share of clean power in the national energy mix by 2030.
