RENOVA suspends Tokushima biomass plant after turbine fault

Inspections confirmed damage to the steam control valve.

RENOVA, Inc. has shut down its Tokushima Tsuda Biomass Power Plant after an equipment failure but said the outage will not affect its earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2027.

The plant, owned by consolidated subsidiary Tokushima Tsuda Biomass Power Plant G.K., suspended operations on 8 July after abnormal pressure was detected in the high-pressure turbine during operation.

Subsequent inspections confirmed damage to the steam control valve connected to the turbine.

RENOVA said it has approved repairs to the damaged parts and expects the plant to resume operations later this month.

The company said the downtime falls within the level of unplanned shutdown days already factored into its biomass power generation business plan, leaving its consolidated financial guidance unchanged.
