The celebration on commissioning of first units of Laxiwa Hydropower Station was recently held at the site of Laxiwa Hydropower Station.

Laxiwa Hydropower Station features the highest dam, largest installed capacity and highest output voltage in the current Yellow River Basin. Water turbine-generator units with a total capacity of 4200MW will be installed ultimately, averaging annual electricity supply of 10223GWh and totaling a reservoir capacity of 1079 million cubic meters. Planned to be completed in nine years, the Station has created many records in China's hydropower construction history since the project commenced in 2001.

The successful operation and generation of the first units of Laxiwa Hydropower Station will play a positive role in optimising the electricity mix in northwestern China, building pillar hydropower industry in the local area, and promoting social and economic development in Qinghai province. It is also of great significance for power industry development in the northwest.
